The central area often connects several approach lanes. The hard-level strategy guide describes it as a staging zone and recommends keeping an open lane whenever possible. This is a planning heuristic, not a guarantee that every board has the same geometry.

A practical space rule

Before moving a block into the middle, name the next piece that needs to pass and the direction it must travel. If you cannot name one, use an edge or a completed route instead. Recheck the center after each gate action.

When should you restart?

Restart if the center is crowded, a key lane is blocked without an escape, or you are repeating the same two or three moves. Change one early choice and observe whether the lane stays usable.
